Healthy Kids: For a healthy Oregon

New health plan enrollment

Children who are part of the no-cost option of Healthy Kids will have a new type of health plan. Current health plans and other local health providers are forming this new health plan.

Your child’s coverage and benefits will stay the same.
Their doctor will stay the same.

When it’s happening

When your child changes plans depends on where you live. The new health plans are forming at different times in different communities.

Some of the plans will be open by August 1, 2012. Kids in those communities will become part of those plans. As other plans form, kids will be enrolled between September 1 and November 1, 2012.

You will receive a letter 30 days before any change happens

If your child is part of the low or full-cost options of Healthy Kids, their plan enrollment will not change.

Why this change is happening

The new health plans are called “Coordinated Care Organizations,” or “CCOs.” The new plans will be set up so that anyone who provides your child’s care – doctors, counselors, nurses – will be better able to focus on prevention and improving care.

For example, there may be added services for Healthy Kids who have chronic conditions like asthma or other health needs. CCOs can also work to prevent unnecessary trips to the hospital or emergency room.

  • You will get tools and support you need to stay healthy.
  • Your child’s care and the advice you get will be easy to understand and follow.
  • Local resources will work together to improve health and health care.
